**New Age Groups** Our cooperative learning group is set up with 4 basic groups - Mighty Minnows (age 4 to 7)*, Famous Flounders (age 8 to 10), Tenacious Tarpons (age 11 to 13), and Salty Snooks (14+).

We do allow for movement between Minnows, Flounders, and Tarpons. This means if you have a "mature" 7-year-old you are more than welcome to request them in the Flounders group. We will NOT allow movement in the Tarpons UNLESS they were previously in co-op for the 2025 to 2026 session and were already in the Tarpons. We are aiming to provide teen classes that allow for "tougher" projects and classes while building a positive friendship environment.

*Might Minnows - I would LOVE if we could offer a Preschool Class for ages 3 to 4, which means Minnows could be 5 to 7. If I am able to get a dedicated Preschool Parent Facilitator I will offer that change for ages.

Each Tuesday for 10-weeks* children will engage in 2 classes, an AM and PM class that each last 1 hour with a 1-hour lunch in between. Each age group has 2 classes per group for each of the Fall and Spring sessions run by volunteer parent facilitators. The classes vary each session and do not always have the same parent facilitator.  The different projects for each class are centered around history, science, and life skills. We do NOT offer basic classes such as grade level math or language arts. however, some of our classes may have a math or language arts element to them.

CLASS DESCRIPTION WILL COME ONCE WE HAVE A SCHEDULE FOR FALL 2026.

*NEW we are considering have 8-week sessions with 2 weeks offering field trips, prepared, and part of co-op. This is a new potential option that Family Members will vote on in August 2026.

Fall 2026
Class Descriptions

Might Minnows Class 1: Rainforest Explorers: A hands-on exploration of rainforest ecosystems, animals, plants, weather, and adaptations through science experiments, stories, music, and creative projects. Lessons focused on science, nature, literacy, and STEM.

Might Minnows Class 2: Florida Little Naturalist: This is a hands-on, inquiry-based, outdoor-style learning experience where children will use their five senses and simple tools to investigate plants, rocks, insects, and more. Students will learn to ask questions, make predictions, and record their findings. The class will blend basic science with literacy, art, and storytelling.

Famous Flounders Class 1: Engineering Through the Ages: How did ancient builders move enormous stones, raise towering walls, and create structures that have lasted for thousands of years without the use of modern machinery? We will explore simple machines, force, and motion while discovering how engineering principles were used to build amazing structures like the Egyptian pyramids, the Great Wall of China, and the Colosseum.

Famous Flounders Class 2: Elements of Art: Printmaking edition

In this class, we will explore the elements of art through a variety of printmaking techniques. I am super excited to explore this medium with the kids while we learn some art basics.  I am anticipating that our art lovers and our not-so-much art lovers will find enjoyment and success with printmaking!

Tenacious Tarpons Class 1: Game Masters: History, Strategy & Design: Board games are more than just entertainment they’re windows into history, culture, mathematics, and strategy. Students will explore how games have evolved across civilizations, learn the difference between luck and skill, develop strategic thinking through gameplay, and collaborate to create their own original board game. This class encourages creativity, communication, and critical thinking in a fun, hands-on environment.

Tenacious Tarpons Class 2: TBA

Salty Snooks Class 1: Gothic Romanticism: Prose and Paintings. A study of gothic romantic poems and prose coupled with an art project inspired by these works. Lessons focused on history, literature, and art.

Salty Snooks Class 2: Teen Culinary Explorers: Teens learn different culinary skills through inspiring recipes driven by their interests. Each week teens will learn a new recipe and a cooking skill to go along with that recipe.
